For the weekend: virtue-signaling, rebuke, and law

You are what you buy. Or, what you want to be, at least.

The Most Important Ingredient for Rebuke
Desiring God

Instructing and rebuking our brothers and sisters in Christ is something we ought to do, but it must be done with humility and patience, and from Scripture.

Passage I'm meditating on - Psalm 19:7-11

It's all too easy to forget the many facets of God's almighty being, so I've been struck by David's psalm of praise and joy as he reflects on God's law, something that's easy to forget.

The law of the Lord is perfect,
    refreshing the soul.
The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy,
    making wise the simple.
The precepts of the Lord are right,
    giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the Lord are radiant,
    giving light to the eyes.
The fear of the Lord is pure,
    enduring forever.
The decrees of the Lord are firm,
    and all of them are righteous.

They are more precious than gold,
    than much pure gold;
they are sweeter than honey,
    than honey from the honeycomb.
By them your servant is warned;
    in keeping them there is great reward.
